What are the steps that we can effectively take to help up rise above our competitors and our current standing?
All businesses have these things in common and taking the time to focus on them will set you apart:
1. Customer Service Matters.
The customer service I am referring to, is your employees. Do they feel that you truly care about them and do they feel that their opinions matter? If you want your business to be amazing, ensure that your employees feel that you also see them as amazing. Take the time to talk to your people and let them know how great they are doing and that their contribution to the organization matters. Your employees are the ones that will be referring your business to your customers, their family and their friends. Treat them well, very well.
2. Employee Commitment.
Beyond polite smiles and lip service, are your employees committed? This often refers to your managers in charge and the culture they are creating through their views and opinions about the company. What is the main message being sent by your managers? Make sure that it is aligned with your company values and mission.
3. Education and More Education.
People that have more training are motivated to achieve bigger goals. Training your people shows them that you care because you are willing to invest money in them. Increased education, also increases morale which affects how they perform throughout the day. Allow for education to flow through your company and watch your people grow and prosper, which as you can already guess, will help your business to grow and prosper as well.
4. Make the Big Picture the Main Focus.
Keep the business vision, the main vision. At times gossip or interdepartmental discrepancies can distract us from the bigger picture of our business goals. If you find yourself caught up in the day-to-day complaints, remind yourself what is important and make changes where necessary to get your team back on track.
5. Company Philosophy.
What is the heart of your company? Ethics and character will build an empire, stay true to yourself, your company and the people working for you and keep your standards high and ethical.
Growing a business and maintaining its growth takes work and persistance. Focusing on the core values of your business helps to dilute irrelevant chatter that can distract you and diminish growth, stay focused on the right things and move upward and onward every year.
